The core of what FesteVale does. One-on-one work for actors, writers, speakers, and performers — finding the character inside and outside of you, unblocking the voice, braving the stage.

FesteVale began as a philosophy before it became a set of tools: that the creative life carries both the festival and the valediction, always, and that the work of a creative practice is not just the output — it is the person doing the making. This consulting is where that philosophy becomes a conversation.
"Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves — live the questions now."
— Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young PoetEvery creative practice has a place where it gets stuck. The actor who loses herself in technique and can't find the character. The writer whose voice goes flat on the page. The speaker whose body forgets everything it knows the moment the lights come up.
This work is about finding what's already there — and learning to trust it. Not a system. A conversation. A series of questions that open something. It draws on dramaturgy, embodied performance practice, and the quiet art of getting out of your own way. It is for people who are serious about the work and honest about where they are in it.
For actors: dramaturgy as a living practice. Finding the character not just in the text but in the body, the breath, the silence between lines. The work of inhabiting rather than performing.
For writers and speakers: unblocking what you already know how to say. Finding the line between your speaking voice and your writing voice — and learning when to trust each one.
For anyone who performs: the honest work of stage fright. Not eliminating it — using it. Learning what the fear is protecting and what it costs you to keep listening to it.
For creatives at a turning point: when you've outgrown one version of your practice and the next one isn't visible yet. Dramaturgical thinking applied to the whole shape of a creative life.
Each tier is designed for a different depth of engagement. Start where you are.
One conversation. One opening.
A focused 75-minute session on a specific question, block, or moment in your practice. We identify what's stuck, what it's protecting, and what one clear step forward looks like.
Good for: a specific performance challenge, a piece of writing that isn't landing, or a question you've been carrying too long without anyone to think it through with.
Four sessions. A real shift.
Four sessions over four to six weeks, working on a sustained question or challenge in your creative practice. Between sessions you'll have reflection prompts and small practice assignments designed to keep the work moving.
Good for: a production you're preparing for, a project you're trying to finish, a performance anxiety pattern you're ready to work through properly, or a creative transition.
Three months. The deeper work.
A three-month engagement for creatives who are ready for sustained, structural change in their practice. We work through the shape of your creative life — not just the current block, but the patterns underneath it.
Good for: a significant creative transition, a long-standing block with roots in identity or fear, or a practice that has reached a ceiling and needs to be rebuilt from a deeper place.
Beyond the tiers — for sustained, embedded work
An ongoing creative partnership.
For creatives who have found the work and want a thinking partner embedded in the long arc of their practice — not a fixed course, not a defined endpoint, but a sustained relationship with someone who knows the full shape of what you're building and can hold it with you over time.
The Residency is offered to a very small number of people at a time. It begins with a longer conversation about where you are, what the work requires, and whether this is the right fit — for both of us.
"The creative life doesn't resolve between sessions. The Residency is for the person whose work deserves a conversation that doesn't have to start over every time."

All consulting begins with a free 20-minute call to make sure the work is a good fit. No pressure, no obligation — just a conversation to see if this is the right moment and the right match.
